Plumen

Many a weekend I've spent looking at lamp shades to cover up the ugly bastard of the lightbulb: the energy saving bulb. Hulger who create great phones for use with Skype, have looked at another product that could do better... and created the Plumen and although pictured hanging down, I think they'd look equally elegant the opposite way up.

Since the Plumen CFL launch the bulb was exhibited in MoMA, New York's Design and the Elastic Mind. The Plumen design concept has recently been selected by MoMA for their permamnent design collection. So come on, someone approach them and get these manufactured so I can free up some time for sofa shopping instead!

I know the guy behind these - Michael - and he's extremely passionate about the product and I think they're lovely. Really hoping they crack the production challenges they have.
