Amy Bennett

The suspense garnered by Amy Bennett is beautiful, the feel of a movie when it doesn't involve triangulating someones position, but good old detective work. I almost want to see someone disappearing out the back door, with this painting already giving the viewer that privileged viewpoint.

Finisterre

I love this company, Finisterre often makes me reflect why I needed to move away from the South West in the first place, as they have embraced where they are from and created a success.... the products are great – at Christmas I went on the obligatory walk, and it was bitterly cold... I was wearing their Etobicoke, which is the lightest jacket I've ever worn, and even when it is blowing a gale, you get that weird sensation because your body just doesn't feel any of the elements - the wind just stops... but everyone kept asking me if I was okay, as my jacket was so lightweight, when I was probably warmer than them.

The other great thing about them is the thought they put into each product, and even have a video about each one... and when you order something and have a query, you know that you'll get a personal response from one of the team.

Just as importantly they think about the effects making their products in relation to their labour conditions... So if you want something super warm, that defies peoples expectations, and of course as it always should be, made by Portuguese nuns, then pre-order a Humboldt today

pɹɐpuɐʇs ǝɥʇ

There is always a danger when you've got a Friday afternoon meeting at MadeThought, as there is a tendency to wind down afterwards and pop into the Design Museum on the way home. This Friday I found issue 50 of Arktip magazine, with the work – or rather the properties of André Balazs and illustrated covers by Andrew Holder which I've already framed in my hallway.

This is a live feed on The Standard in New York, looks kind of like the Debenhams in Exeter which is about to be pulled down, but his attention to details outside belies its exterior, I'm going to have to take my family there later next year.
